Crowns & Bridges: Repairing Teeth and Replacing Gaps

Understand what each restoration does, what alternatives may be suitable and how to care for it. Discuss your options at GardenCity Smiles™, Yelahanka New Town.
Dr Deepthi explains crown and bridge options to a patient using dental models and a digital scan

A Crown or a Bridge?

A crown covers a prepared tooth. A bridge replaces a missing tooth using support from neighbouring teeth or implants. The starting point is the condition of your teeth, gums and bite.

A crown may provide support when a filling is insufficient. Ask how much sound tooth remains, whether other treatment is needed first and whether a more conservative restoration is possible.

A bridge is one option for selected gaps. Compare it with an implant or removable replacement, including the effect on supporting teeth, cleaning needs and maintenance.

Some root-treated teeth need additional protection. Your dentist assesses the remaining tooth and bite before recommending a crown or another restoration.

Your Treatment, Step by Step

We examine the tooth or gap, gums and bite, with imaging when indicated. Discuss alternatives, expected appointments and maintenance before deciding.

The agreed tooth or teeth are prepared and a scan or impression records their shape. Ask whether a temporary restoration will be needed and how to look after it.

The clinician checks the restoration, contacts with nearby teeth and your bite. Let us know if it feels uneven or uncomfortable.

Fixed restorations still need cleaning and regular review. They may require repair or replacement over time; no single lifespan applies to everyone.

Looking After Your Restoration

Brush twice daily with doctor-recommended toothpaste and clean between teeth. Ask us to demonstrate cleaning around the crown edges or beneath a bridge.

Follow the specific eating and cleaning instructions given at your appointment. Contact the clinic if the temporary becomes loose or comes off.

Let us know about persistent pain, a loose restoration or an uneven bite. Do not wait for a routine review if something has changed.

The schedule depends on the findings, restoration and laboratory workflow. The clinic will explain your plan; same-day treatment is not promised.
