What Would You Like Help With?

Choose the pattern closest to what you notice. See how it differs and what your clinician will look for.

Simplified front view

Teeth overlap or rotate

Crowded Teeth

Crowding can make cleaning difficult. We assess available space, tooth positions and gum health before discussing suitable options.

We assess: Space in the arches, cleaning access and whether other dental care is needed.

These simplified illustrations explain patterns, not your diagnosis or a predicted treatment result. More than one concern can occur together.

Braces or Clear Aligners? Compare Everyday Life.

Neither option is automatically better. Suitability depends on the tooth movements needed, oral health and your ability to follow the plan.

Clear Aligners

How It Works
Fixed Braces

Brackets and wires stay attached to the teeth.

Clear Aligners

A series of removable trays moves teeth in planned stages.

Day-To-Day Commitment
Fixed Braces

Careful cleaning, food precautions and any prescribed elastics.

Clear Aligners

Consistent prescribed wear, tray changes and careful storage.

Eating And Cleaning
Fixed Braces

Clean around brackets and wires; avoid foods that can damage them.

Clear Aligners

Remove trays for meals and clean teeth and trays as instructed.

Extra Components
Fixed Braces

Elastics or other components may be part of the plan.

Clear Aligners

Tooth-coloured attachments or elastics may be needed; trays are not always the only component.

Reviews And Problems
Fixed Braces

Attend adjustments; report a loose bracket or irritating wire.

Clear Aligners

Attend fit and progress checks; report a lost tray or poor fit.

A Plan for Your Stage of Life

Growing jaws, busy adult routines and previous treatment call for different conversations.

An early review checks eruption, space and how the teeth meet. Some concerns need monitoring; others may benefit from carefully timed care. An early visit does not mean automatic treatment.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check by age seven, or earlier if a concern is noticed. Read the AAO guidance.

Discuss school, sport, cleaning routines and readiness to follow instructions. The plan should explain appointment commitments, appliance care and how the family can help.

Adults can be assessed for orthodontic care. Gum health, previous dental work, missing teeth and planned restorations can affect the sequence. Bring your appearance preferences and practical concerns to the consultation.

Bring your old retainers and any previous records. We assess the change, bite and gum health before discussing whether monitoring, new retention or further movement is appropriate. Do not force a retainer that no longer fits.

From Your First Visit to Retainers

Open each stage to understand what happens and what you should know before moving forward.

We discuss your goals, health history, previous treatment and any clicking, locking or jaw pain. Examination considers teeth, gums and bite; photographs, scans or X-rays are used where indicated.

You should leave understanding the findings, any further records needed and the next step—not feeling you must choose an appliance immediately.

Decay or gum problems may need care first. We explain suitable options, whether space-making procedures are proposed, the expected duration, limitations and retention. The clinic explains who will plan and provide your care and how progress reviews are arranged.

You receive instructions for cleaning, eating, any prescribed elastics or tray wear, and contacting the clinic. Expect an adjustment period; ask about comfort measures appropriate for you.

Reviews check movement, gum health and appliance function. Missed visits, breakages or inconsistent wear can affect progress. Changes to the plan or estimated duration should be explained.

Finishing active movement is not the end of care. Follow your prescribed retainer schedule and review plan. Teeth can move again; seek advice if a retainer is lost, broken or no longer fits.

Living With Treatment

Practical guidance for the days between appointments. Your treating clinician’s instructions take priority.

Fixed braces: use the cleaning technique demonstrated by your dental team, including between teeth and around brackets. Follow food precautions to protect wires and brackets.

Aligners: follow the prescribed wear and tray-change schedule; remove and clean them as instructed, and store them in their case.

Continue regular dental check-ups. Tell the team about sport or other activities that may need appliance-specific advice.

Temporary soreness can occur after fitting or adjustments. Follow your clinician’s comfort advice. Contact the clinic if pain is severe, persists beyond the expected settling period or is getting worse.

Contact the clinic for instructions rather than waiting for your routine review. Describe the problem and whether it is causing pain. Do not try to force an ill-fitting tray or repair an appliance yourself.

Call Clinic.

Cleaning difficulties can contribute to decay, enamel marks and gum inflammation. Individual risks may also include gum recession or changes to tooth roots. Your clinician should explain the risks relevant to your teeth, the limits of correction and how these will be monitored.

Teeth may move again after treatment, which is why retention matters. A digital simulation is a planning aid, not a guaranteed outcome.

Seek urgent hospital care for difficulty breathing or swallowing, or severe facial swelling with systemic illness.

Questions Before You Decide

Duration depends on the bite, movements required, appliance and progress. We discuss an individual estimate after consultation and explain factors that could change it.

Not everyone does. If extractions, enamel reshaping between teeth or another procedure is proposed, ask why it is needed, what alternatives exist and how it fits the overall plan.

You can tell us your preference. Suitability depends on the required movements, oral health and whether you can follow the prescribed wear routine. Read about Invisalign consultation.

Orthodontic treatment should not be presented as a guaranteed cure for jaw pain. Clicking, locking or pain should be assessed separately so the plan addresses the actual problem. Explore TMJ and jaw care.

Retainers are normally part of treatment after active movement. The type, wear schedule and follow-up plan are individual. Ask how to care for them and what to do if they break or are lost.

No. Your appointment is confirmed when the clinic replies and agrees a time with you. New patients should arrive 10 minutes before the confirmed appointment to complete registration.
