FAQs

What are the common causes of gum diseases?

Gum disease is caused primarily due to improper maintenance of oral hygiene, but some conditions are due to underlying medical conditions which contribute to the same

Red swollen gums, bleeding while brushing, bad breath, sensitivity, loose teeth, or changes in the way of bite are some signs that you have gum disease.

Gum disease is diagnosed by examining the gum bleeding, the texture of your gums, and checking the space between teeth or the depth between the gum and tooth called pockets. And if required intraoral x-rays are taken to assess the stage of the disease.

There is a potential link between gum disease and other health conditions. In people with immunocompromised conditions, the bacteria from the mouth can be toxic causing a low-grade ‘sub-infection’

Proper oral hygiene measures, stopping adverse oral habits, and maintaining a balanced diet. Visit your dentist every 6 months and get a full mouth cleaning done.
