FAQs

What are endodontic procedures and when are they needed?

They are procedures to clean and disinfect the inside of a tooth which otherwise must go for extraction. The situations which require endodontic procedures are damages caused by trauma to the teeth, large cavities with underlying infection, or abscesses.

The Root canal treatment is done by drilling a hole in the tooth and removing the inflamed or infected pulp tissue and filling it with an inert material to seal the space.

Extraction is the only alternative to an endodontic procedure, but it is always better to try to save the tooth

Typically, root canal recovery takes less than 3 days. It differs from the pain perception of an individual. Mild discomfort may persist for a few days which will be addressed with medication

Persistent pain, Tooth discoloration, Sensitivity to hot and cold, swollen gums (gum boil) near the painful tooth, chipped or cracked tooth or sometimes loose tooth are all signs that it might require endodontic treatment.
